NanoBioMedical Centre

NanoBioMedical Centre (NBMC) was set up in 2011 by Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan in partnership with Poznań University of Medical Sciences, Poznań University of Life Sciences and Poznań University of Technology. It is a multidisciplinary research and education centre focused in nanoscience and nanotechnology (both master and doctoral level). The main goal of NBMC scientific activity is to foster nanotechnology development and its application in different research areas, especially in biology, medicine and in material sciences. Interdisciplinary environment of NBMC brings together around 100 junior and experienced researchers from a variety of disciplines – medicine, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, physics, biophysics, chemistry and nanotechnology – involved in the research and development of novel nanomaterials.

Faculty of Physics, set up as a separate unit in 1991, reaches in its beginning the 1919, which is also the beginning of the University of Poznań. At present the Faculty of Physics includes the Institute of Acoustics, the Institute Astronomical Observatory, founded in 1919, and 19 Departments dedicated to particular subfields of physics. Irrespective of the international contacts of its units, the Faculty as a whole has been successfully co-operating with many universities and academic centres throughout the world. A great scientific potential of the Faculty comes from 85 of independent researchers, including 39 with the title of professor. Faculty of Physics includes academic education in the field of physical sciences, as well as new courses and specialisations focusing strongly on the needs of the modern economy. For over a dozen years the headquaters of the faculty has been the Collegium Physicum, which is a complex of modern buildingsfor scientific and teaching purposes located at the University campus at Morasko. The Faculty has excellent teaching facilities, such as lecture halls and practice-lecture halls as well as modern scientific and student laboratories, where students are taught by both renowned professors and promising young scientists.
